Following the reactions from the Albanian politics, for the selection of Albania as a non-permanent member of the Security Council in the UN, came the reactions from the foreign ambassadors.
Congratulating Albania on this step, the EU Ambassador, Luigi Soreca describes it as a historic day as he writes that close cooperation is already expected to address global issues.
“Historic day for Albania and its citizens. Congratulations on being selected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2022-2023! “We look forward to working even closer together to address global issues,” Soreca wrote.
While the US Ambassador, Yuri Kim writes that with the membership of Albania, the US is ready for further cooperation on regional and world issues.
“History was written. Congratulations to Albania on being selected for the first time in the UN Security Council. “The United States expects closer cooperation with Albania on regional issues and in the world,” Kim wrote.
REACTIONS OF PRESIDENT ILIR META AND PRIME MINISTER EDI RAMA
President Ilir Meta and Prime Minister Edi Rama have also reacted to this development. The head of state says that our country will fulfill with high responsibility this task and mission for the next two years.
While Rama has published the document with the voting results for Albania where out of 190 participating countries, our country received 175 votes. The total number needed to be selected was 117 votes or two-thirds of the total.
ALBANIAN AMBASSADOR’S REACTION TO THE UN
Earlier, Albania’s ambassador to the UN, Besiana Kadare, reacted to this development, where through a post on Twitter she expressed her readiness for cooperation between all other member states.

With 175 votes from 190 participating countries, Albania was elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. For our country this is the first time of selection as a member of one of the most important organs of the UN.
