Our grandparents’ families had ten or more spirits (members) living in one house. Old age, childhood and youth coexisted with each other. Three generations: parents, children, and even grandchildren lived together. Family members had a lot of respect, care and solidarity, love, understanding and people for each other. Everyone was doing well. Family relationships were stable. There were not many conflicts, domestic violence and divorces as mass phenomena. Their life was hard but happy. That was once the case, but where is our family today?
During the last three decades we have witnessed a very big transformation of the traditional family in Malësia. What is worth noting is that, in our society, the family has lost the meaning it once had, as something sacred and eternal among its members. The modernization that follows as a process is losing the role of our family and, the more modern the Albanian society becomes, the more the family will become a problematic social institution. The transition in our society, the new circumstances created in all segments of economic and social life, the rude transformational pressures of reality, have influenced the family as a basic formation, to change in structure, composition, concept and create physiognomy, typology, functions, morals and other (ir) responsibilities within the family. Unfortunately our family has now lost and is losing its role day by day. Therefore, with regret and pain we can say that the institution of the family, like the whole Albanian society, is going through a great crisis, which has forever changed the face of the traditional mountain (Albanian) family. Radical social and economic changes, as well as the transformation of society, from a traditional (patriarchal) society closed to a more open society have created a new family model, which resembles almost nothing in years ago. The family is shrinking and shrinking on the one hand and, on the other hand, is experiencing an almost degrading process. The number of people per family has dropped below four, so couples are not even reproducing themselves.
The past is already the family where parental authority was unquestioned. The family with grandparents, cousins and cousins is already gone. Nowadays the family generally consists only of the immediate family, of parents and children, forgetting the “extended family”, part of which are also uncles, aunts, cousins, aunts, cousins and relatives, who, despite the sciences sociologically treat them as part of the family, we have driven them out of the family paradise and meet only on occasions. From the traditional type of family, which was a warm human, social, ethical, moral and educational environment, the family is largely transformed into a social anarchy, arena of conflict, with individualistic tendencies and economic independence of its members, be they even just spouses, without other members of the wider family. Changes in the structure of the family have been significantly influenced by several factors, such as imitation of foreign values without selection, replacement of old and new ties, emigration in the village-city relationship, falling birth rates, value crisis which has produced a crisis identity, distance in the family, disrespect of the family by children, lack of mutual family visits, various problems and conflicts within the family as a result of socio-economic and other causes. Characteristics of the crisis that are observed in our families today are the reduction of marriages, which also means the reduction of births, the beginning of the phenomenon of cohabitation without marriage and the creation of unstable relationships that in some cases end sooner than begin. The other side is that if today we have a society mainly composed of youth that is considered our future, and we do not have a healthy family, then the problems will be big. From what was said we can conclude that apparently our traditional family has been said goodbye.
In the back area of the Big Beach, 22 locations were identified where waste was dumped illegally. It is estimated that this is a total area of 26,670 square meters under the rubbish. While in the area of the right tributary of the river Buna and in Ada we have registered 73 locations where waste is dumped, mainly construction waste and household waste. Construction waste is present in almost all countries, while in most countries it is mixed waste that includes large and household waste. The issue of landfill cleaning at the back of the Big Beach is not covered by the program for carrying out municipal activities in the area of Marine Goods for the territory of the municipality of Ulcinj, and therefore the costs for their removal are not foreseen. Some of the beaches have not signed contracts with the Utilities Company, thus avoiding the obligation to this company and dumping waste in the nearest illegal landfill.
There is no publicly available information that anyone was punished while dumping waste at these sites by the Municipal Inspection or the Municipal Police, although it does not take much effort to apprehend the perpetrators. In the Ada area of Buna and around the right tributary of the Buna River, there are not enough containers and waste collection is not organized. Namely, the problem of waste in this locality is a big problem of the Municipality of Ulcinj. Resolving this issue requires cooperation and coordination between local and central institutions.
