President Ilir Meta attended this Thursday and greeted the “Prayer Breakfast” in Jerusalem.
Through a video message at the traditional annual meeting “Morning of Prayers”, which is being held in Jerusalem, the Albanian head of state said:
“Albanians are proud, who stood by and sided with the Jewish people during World War II, sacrificing their lives to protect them. “Not a single Jew surrendered to the Nazis, and not a single Jewish life was lost in Albania during that terrible period.”
This important international meeting was attended by former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Presidents, senior state representatives and political figures from around the world. Meta’s greeting comes a day after Parliament approved by 104 votes in favor of his removal from the post of President of the Republic.
Dear friends of Jerusalem from all over the world!
I would like to personally thank all the participants who have gathered in Jerusalem, as well as all those who have joined us via the internet!
I would also like to thank the organizers of this event as well as those who have supported it over the years!
I am aware that the theme of this year’s event is the political stability of your people.
We continue to hope and pray for your political stability in the midst of some recent elections in your country.
We know this is a very difficult time for all of you, in these moments.
We feel grateful to see a return to a more peaceful period for your people as well as for your neighbors.
We pray for eternal peace in Jerusalem as well as throughout your region! We address our prayers to Almighty God that all countries can live in peace and coexistence with each other!
Albanians identify with your struggle for freedom and peace over the centuries and the ongoing suffering in this process.
Albanians are proud to have stood by and sided with the Jewish people during the dark period of World War II, sacrificing their lives to protect Jewish families who were sheltered in our country.
Not a single Jew surrendered to the Nazis, and not a single Jewish life was extinguished in Albania during that terrible period.
Today I express our continued support for you and I pray to God to bring peace and tranquility not only to your country, to your neighbors and the region where you live, but to every country that suffers from conflict!
The book of Psalms best describes how special Jerusalem is and how important it is to pray for peace:
“Pray for peace to prevail over Jerusalem! Those who want you to enjoy prosperity! May peace reign within your walls as well as prosperity in your castles (houses) and safe havens! ”
God bless Israel, Albania and all nations on earth!
May the Lord bring peace and prosperity to Jerusalem and to all the cities where you live!
Shalom (Peace) my friends! ”
