All of us once, have taken a medicine without consuming water. But, doctors say, if this is routine for you, do not do it anymore because it is harmful. A report made by a clinic in the US, shows that medication should be accompanied by water, even a glass full of water, as otherwise, you may have serious sore throats.
According to the report, certain medications can cause you tissue damage if they stay in contact with the esophageal lining for too long. The damage in question is called esophagus, which is an inflammation that can cause painful and difficult swallowing as well as chest pain. If left untreated, esophagitis can lead to complications such as scarring or narrowing of the esophagus, writes Healthline.
Another problem that can be caused is the throat getting stuck in the medicine, so it stays in your throat. It’s certainly not a medical emergency, but it can still lead to bad coughs and annoying irritation.
