Malta has not registered any new cases of Covid-19 for the first time in 11 months, the health minister said in a statement but he also urged people to be careful to prevent new outbreaks of Covid-19.
“Today is the first day the country has not had a case with Covid since last summer,” Minister Chris Fearne wrote on Twitter. “It’s essential that we continue to be accountable.”

Recall that Malta has reopened bars, cinemas and theaters. Malta last recorded zero cases with Covid on July 25, but the cases then gradually increased, peaking in March with 510 cases.
The island has vaccinated more than half of the population and at least 75% of them have received at least one dose.
