“Whoever built without permission, let him demolish them himself.” This was the appeal of Prime Minister Edi Rama a few days ago for all businesses on the coastline, who from today will be subject to a “broom” from Ksamil in Velipoja.
The facilities range from 1 to 5 floors, with reinforced concrete structures and relief. In the area of Velipoja are planned to demolish about 15 such facilities, while in Ksamil about 30. On the eve of the operation, the chief inspector of IKMT Ajet Zyberaj said yesterday that there will be no tolerance in cases where the law has been violated.
The head of the government, Edi Rama, has announced that after the coastline, the action will be focused on protected areas. Rama said that with the legal changes in case of identification of illegal constructions, the engineer, the architect and the supervisor of the works risk prison if he becomes a partner with the investor.
It is now up to the police to catch the illegal constructions in flagrante delicto and then they should be referred to IKMT to start the demolition action.
In addition to blue uniforms, super-intelligent drones are expected to be put into operation to identify illegal constructions, a system which will be applied in Albania thanks to the cooperation with Turkish experts. These drones, according to the prime minister, will produce real-time data on roads, coastline, agricultural land, forests, public order and other spaces.
