The General Directorate of Archives and the State Agency of Archives of Kosovo, in cooperation with the Municipality of Tuz in Montenegro, held the 5th Nationwide Archiving Conference.
This conference brought together experts and scholars of the archives of Albanian-speaking countries and the archives of the region, to discuss issues, study methodology, digitalization and improvement of content infrastructure, innovation, and vision of the work of archives in today’s realities.
The opening of the Conference was greeted by the Director of DA, Ardit Bido, the Chief of the Kosovo Archives Agency, Bedri Zyberaj and the official of the Municipality of Tuz, Mark Lucgjonaj.
During the greeting speech Bibo said that he was pleased that the conference was taking place in Tuz, in an Albanian-speaking region, as the whole essence of the creation of this conference is to be everywhere Albanians.
“It is a special pleasure for me that recently, the Nationwide Conference on Archiving is taking place in Tuz, it is taking place in Malësia because since we started this joint nationwide conference on archiving, in fact we have decided that this will be a conference of Albanians ngado. Not as a nationalist view but as a deeply patriotic and professional view. The archives of our nation are one. They can be divided into different institutions, they can be divided into different states, but when it comes to our history, that history is national.“, Said Bido.
Zyberaj on the other hand thanked the two archives that have organized this conference, and said that the holding of the fifth conference in Tuz has given another dimension.
“I thank you very much on behalf of the two archives that organize this conference and on behalf of all participants here, the municipality of Tuz, who with the support and support given to our two institutions to hold the V Conference in Tuz, so gave a another dimension, he expanded it, exactly as it was conceived at the beginning of the time “, said Zyberaj.
While Lucgjonaj said that it is a special pleasure for the municipality of Tuz, who have welcomed the archives of Kosovo and Albania in their municipality.
“It is a special pleasure for the municipality of Tuz to together with two such important institutions as the archives of Kosovo and Albania to organize together the V Nationwide Conference here in our Highlands. “I feel happy that today this hall welcomes so many people of letters, of studies, of those who dedicate every day of their lives to culture, history, nation, language, memory, that is, the homeland”, said Lucgjonaj.
The topics discussed were specifically related to archiving, human rights and the history of archives or archival institutions in Albanian-speaking areas. The focus was on issues related to archives, accountability, access to data and protection of personal data, regional cooperation in the field of archives and archival cultural heritage, illegal traffic of documentary heritage, ethics and archives, climate change and archives, archival training and professional improvement as well as tourism and archive promotion.
In addition to the archivists of the national archival networks present with the press releases were other profiles of archivists, institutions that preserve or those that interact with the preservation of collective memory. The Fifth Nationwide Conference is a tradition that continues after the four money held in Tirana, Pristina, Skopje and Saranda.
