In Albania, the police announced today that they have arrested 16 people, while they have declared 24 others wanted, as a result of the operation launched yesterday in Kruja, against the cultivation of narcotic plants
The operation, which involved numerous police forces, including special units, focused on the area of Nikla, Halil and Arramerras. Among those arrested are two women, the mayor of Halil village, as well as two employees of the Energy Distribution System Operator. The latter two are suspected to be related to a marijuana cultivation laboratory by means of lamp heating.
In addition to this laboratory, the police announced that they have seized cubes and seedlings of cannabis sativa. In total it is thought to be close to 17 thousand roots of narcotic plants that have been discovered, both in open plantations and in greenhouses.
In the last two years, during 2019 known as 2020, the cultivation of cannabis sativa has had an increasing trend, after a significant contraction that was recorded in 2018, when the figures fell to historical lows.
